Karen Cowan, MSW, LCSWA

Clinical Director

Karen attended AB Tech and obtained an Associates Degree in Law Enforcement Technology and then went to Mars Hill College to finish up a bachelor’s degree where she double majored in Criminal Justice and Social Work. Afterward, she attended UNC-Chapel Hill to obtain her Master’s degree in Social Work. 

Karen has worked in the County Manager’s Office, Baby Love Program doing Maternal and Child Outreach, and also, as a Clinical Case Manager at Blue Ridge Mental Health. She started an agency on January 2, 2000, and later renamed the agency Brandi Nichole Family Enrichment Center in 2009 in honor of her daughter. 

Karen is very involved in the community with various organizations and she was previously a foster parent for 14 years.

Jewel Richardson, BA

Agency Director,

Jewel Richardson is from the US Virgin Islands. She graduated from Mars Hill College with a Bachelor of Art in Psychology. She is currently the Agency Director at Brandi Nichole Family Enrichment Center. Her passion is reuniting children with their families or finding their forever homes.

Tammy Justice

Office Manager

Tammy was born and raised in Titusville, FL near the Kennedy Space Center. She holds a degree in Medical Coding and Insurance Reimbursement and has an Administrative and Management background. She and her husband Kris enjoy spending time outdoors hiking and kayaking. 

Tammy has 4 children – Ashley who is currently living the RV life traveling across the US, Tyler who is an engineering student at Texas A&M University, Jacob is about to graduate high school and has been accepted to Clemson University, and Rylee is 10 years old and in the 5th grade. She also has 2 stepsons –  Bryson is 12 years old and Brantley is 8 years old. She feels so excited and blessed to have joined the Brandi Nichole team and to be contributing to helping build strong families!

Lindsey Neiman-Cox MSW, LCSWA, QP

MSW Intern

Lindsey was born and raised right outside of Orlando, FL. She received her bachelor’s in psychology, with a minor in English, from Florida State University and is a die hard FSU fan. She is currently working on obtaining a Masters in Social Work degree from Simmons University in Boston and will be graduating in May 2023 with the goal of becoming a therapist. 

Lindsey has worked with many different populations at various facilities/agencies specializing in mental health in Florida and North Carolina. She hopes to own her own practice one day that focuses on her passion for helping youth and adults by providing them with the appropriate support tools they need to meet their goals and be set up for success throughout their lives.

Lori McAdams, RN

Americare Pharmacy


Lori McAdams is Americare Pharmacy’s Nurse Consultant for Brandi Nichole Family Enrichment Center. Lori provides medication training to our foster parents and has worked with the Brandi Nicole Family Enrichment Center since 2007. She began her nursing career as an LPN working in long-term care and returned to school in 2004 to become a Registered Nurse. Lori lives in Fletcher with her husband and 6 dogs.

Karla Kissiah-Teal

Agency Development Manager

Karla was born and raised in Upstate SC and has just recently moved to WNC. She has two adult daughters and two grandchildren who make her weekends the best. Karla enjoys kayaking, cooking, and trying new things with new friends.

She has a background in marketing, entertainment, and healthcare, and is excited to be a part of Brandi Nichole Family Enrichment Center helping find loving families for children in need.
